ALEXANDRIA, Va. (August 23, 2013)—Statement of Ann Boughtin, Chair of Mental Health America's Board of Directors:
"Mental Health America announces the resignation of its President and CEO, Wayne W. Lindstrom, Ph.D., effective September 19, 2013. During his time in this position, he furthered MHA's advocacy leadership around prevention, early intervention, whole person treatment, recovery, and wellness."
"David Shern, Ph.D. will serve as the interim CEO for MHA beginning September 23, 2013. Dr. Shern currently serves as Science Advisor for Mental Health America and also served as CEO of Mental Health America from 2006-2012."
"Dr. Lindstrom was successful in building a working team environment that was able to achieve many gains, including the award of a CMS Navigator Grant and the strengthening of the organization's Regional Policy Council in anticipation of the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act. This policy structure has been endorsed with corporate support and has demonstrated MHA's continuing advocacy leadership and prominence."
"The MHA Board of Directors is appreciative of the leadership provided by Dr. Lindstrom while serving as President & CEO of Mental Health America. Dr. Lindstrom will be pursuing new opportunities associated with his interest in fulfilling the Affordable Care Act's promise of full mental health integration within the rest of healthcare."
